holden was raised by one of the best football athletes the eastern side of the united states had ever seen. he acquired most of his father's talent through genetics, and worked his ass off to outshine his father. other than being a boss athlete, holden was also nominated for nearly every award his high school held, was at the top of his class, and took up most presidency positions. still wondering why he's so narcissistic? no, i didn't think you would be. he's worked for everything he has obtained, and knowing that you can and have so many accomplishments, does give you quite an ego boost.
QUICK WITTED
holden has always prided himself in the department of wit. he can turn anything into an innuendo - and he usually does - and has a come back handy for every occasion. sometimes, even, he'll have a smart remark hanging on the end of his tongue, ready to spit out without even realizing he's had one ready.
EATING ETIQUETTE
now, i know what you're thinking: how can his dinner manners be considered a personality trait? i can answer that simply, holden eats like he plays, like he makes love, and how he does just about everything. aggressively. he can eat an entire plate of food in a three minutes sitting. his mouth can fit a large amount, which his teeth chew to bits, and he swallows. an entire plate of food in three minutes, in less than ten bites. now that takes skill. he eats like a pig, honestly, but somehow women still find him appealing; that is a wonder to even holden.
ANGRY
holden was always a friendly sort of person. sure, he had his angry moments, but they were far and few and usually harmless. after his wife began cheating, however, his fits come closer together now and are much more dangerous. he usually sips back a drink or pops a valium before stepping out into the world, to keep him calm. if he didn't though, he could already see him shredding a few good designs and / or sending a few people off to the restroom to have a good cry. he'd never want to frighten anyone, so he keeps a bottle of whiskey and a few tablets of valium with him at all times.
CHARMING
other than his dirty mind, his bad eating etiquette, and his anger, holden is rather kind, generous, humorous, and charming. he's had a few romances which all ended peacefully and with understanding on both parts. romantic things such as candle lit dinners make him itch in embarrassment, but he has given a few flowers and walked along a beach holding a lovers hand. he can be prince charming when he wants to be.

HISTORY[/color] PROLOGUE
something that not many people know is that bryant spent a good three months just working up the nerve to speak to angela. she was a young librarian at the public library in ogunquit maine, while he was a widowed man in his early thirties, working as an architect. she wore her hair in dark curls and wore a dimpled smile, he had already lost most of his hair by then and was sure his grin made him look more stupid than suave. he approached her, though. the two spent many afternoons speaking to one another over the counter of the library desk, several evenings sailing and dining at restaurants that were riding bryant's budget to it's breaking point, and many nights laying side by side one another. absolutely perfect, holden's mother always explained of their first years together. his father had described those years as some of the best of his life - no disrespect to his first wife; the deceased high school sweet heart he had loved for nearly a dozen years.
the two married at the nearest light house, at the outskirts of goldengrate, with only a few family and friends present. under angela's sweet little wedding gown was a sweet little bump that would eventually grow up to be holden.
CHILDHOOD AND EDUCATION
both parents attempted to sway holden's interest. as in, his father dressed him in football jersey's as an infant and his mother read to him several times a day. holden didn't quite use the books his mother gave him properly. instead of reading them, he tended to turn them into walls of forts and stepping stones for the lava better known as the living room carpet. though angela scolded him and grimaced at the sight of such terrible use of literature, she loved that little boy of hers very much. by the time holden was old enough for football, his father was too old. with the hype of his father and the pressure of the rest of his friends and school mates, holden became very skilled in the sport.
the school jersey and the fact that his father became the school football coach gave holden a high position at the school's social pyramid. he kept his grades rather high and was in nearly every activity his school offered. he dated a few girls, but kept mostly to himself. until he met his high school sweet heart, as the world dubbed her. they were both sophomore's and had attended the same schools since they were in middle school, but she was always in advanced classes. she was brilliant and beautiful and she seemed to fit near perfectly with holden. after all, he was an ace student. falling in love came easy to them. the two were sixteen or so when they discovered that condoms weren't the strongest things and that getting pregnant wasn't that hard of a task. the two stuck together, made a beautiful couple and rather good parents to their little boy, and were even engaged when it came time to apply for college.
when she was accepted to yale, he applied, too. the two attended the university where they could stay together and also where he could play football, live off campus with lucas, and still visit their family every couple of weeks. life was going great until his sophomore year of college.
ADULTHOOD
school was getting to sara. late night cram sessions, a baby to be breast fed, a husband with his own problems, and the failing grades that were suddenly on her plate... it was just too much for her. their sophomore year sara began using. using speed mostly, but sometimes other things that helped with her nerves. her grades stayed up, her weight went down, and she began to act a little distant. holden couldn't figure it until he caught her. they fought and he did his best, trying to convince her that no matter how small the drug, and addiction was an addiction. tried to keep lucas around her - the little guy was obviously his mother's moral compass - but nothing worked. she'd go out during her classes, his classes, or in the middle of the night to buy.
after several weeks of fighting, he left her with the annulment papers. he took lucas, though it broke his heart to break up mother and son, but she needed to do what was right and if it took a strong pang of a dose of reality, holden would give it to her. three weeks later, instead of taking holden's limited money, she assualted a police officer, publicly, to get herself a few years in prison. holden, to this day, is not sure how someone so smart could make such destructive decisions.
when sara left yale, so did holden and lucas. the bills were too much now that the two weren't working to pay the bills. he finished his schooling at a community college in his hometown and eventually moved to pierce island, where he works as an architect. sara's been out of prison for a few years now, but still hasn't bothered to return to holden or lucas and both are, surprisingly, alright with that.
