Welcome to Moondane. It's a world of demons. Naturally, it's also a hell of an earth, and everybody's lucky if they make it through the day with only a couple beatings. A normal day is a broken bone or two, maybe a mugging, possibly a rape. Occasionally, for many demons, a fight for your life, death of people you know, pain, possibly yourself dead. Yeah. It's hell.
Then, about fifty years ago, a group of demons calling themselves the Phoeni, plural for Phoenix, appeared. Their goal? Burn this world to ashes in order to cleanse it, and then rebuild it from the ashes. Sort of. In other words, they travel the world, killing people who need killing, helping people where they can, and generally trying to change the world to be better than it is, where somebody can go outside without fear of being stabbed through the head with a rusty iron sword. Tetanus, anybody? Quite a common disease here. Regardless, they're immortal: their lifespan is infinite, but they can still be killed by any other. Except their leader. He's just mean, never dies, ever. Even if you blow him to a thousand tiny shits, he'll still not die. Whatever, right? His name is Chimera Phoenix.
There are only a few of these Immortal Phoeni: maybe about fifteen, sixteen, tops. The rest are zealots dedicated to the cause. Since recorded history is only goes back about a thousand years, before that being referred to as the Abyss of Time, and demon lifespans are only two hundred years (if you're lucky; most barely live to be sixty) and demons don't really age after somewhere between eighteen and twenty-three, this makes their job easy: nobody knows what the world was like past a thousand years ago, except them. They've had thousands of years of fighting and war; they're here to kick ass. All are nearly immune to pain, but not damage, and are constantly traveling the world over.
These are the early years of the Phoeni. New dangewrs still pop up every day, many people need their help, war is everywhere, and all over the world people are either suffering or fighting for their lives. The Phoeni are here to help- will you aid them or hinder them?
Because they already have an enemy. An ex-Phoeni (he was rejected when they formed) by the name of Sahdow Darkness, he is raising an army to bring the world further into hell. He seeks to thwart them at every turn. At the same time, there are Demon Hunters, humans using special clothing and weapons, based in Oread, an all-humans country, who hunt and kill demons for pleasure, profit, or out of hatred.
So, choose: The phoenix or the darkness. Save the world or kill it.
